Any time the internet posts a story about how cute it was that a couple got engaged at the very spot where they met, I shudder a little. An article has been going around recently about a Florida couple that got engaged at register 2 at a Whole Foods.
I think about the place where my non-groom and I first met, I would not want him to get down on one knee. It was a street corner in Astoria, Queens where we both lived. A sweet neighborhood, but not an idillic setting for a proposal.
And neither is Whole Foods if you ask me.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Whole Foods. As someone who is very food conscious, it is one of the few places I can buy groceries and know that what I’m eating is actually good for me. I even have a select few positive memories from when I lived in New York City and would spend hours in the Whole Foods at Union Square. Surviving Whole Foods by Kelly MacLean perfectly sums up my relationship with Whole Foods.
I digress. I was not on the receiving end of that proposal, but I would have found it to be a little lack luster. She knew it was coming , so for me, that kinda spoils it. When looking to propose, I would think that whomever was doing the proposing would want to either create a new memory or visit a romantic place. I wouldn’t want to relive another moment where I was babbling awkwardly and sweating because I have a feeling that I would be doing that as I propose.
So gentlemen, if you’re reading, when proposing, put some serious thought into it. We probably won’t remember the details, but we will remember if you got down on one knee at Whole Foods.
Regardless, congratulations to Vlad and Monica on their proposal!
TGIF People! Here’s to getting a bit of warmth in this beautiful bouquet.

I don’t know about you, but it is starting to get pretty chilly here. Having spent the past few years in New York City, I know cold, so how about these warm tones in oranges and pinks?! The warmth is radiating and I just adore the brown ribbon holding it all together. MV Flowers & Gifts created the bouquet and it was captured by a true artist with a camera, Yuna Leonard Photography. The original posting of this photo came from Style Me Pretty.
Today my dear girlfriend Sainty (Eureka Seven: Ao, Running on Empty) is getting married to her super hunky fiancé Eric (All My Children, Broadway’s 13 the Musical). I could not be happier to see these two people share in holy matrimony. I wish I could be with them and all our friends as they get married today. These two are the perfect example of love and success and today is going to be the greatest performance they ever give! Love y’all!

Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving. May the number of blessings outnumber the autumn leaves. XO
I recently read an article about people lining up outside a Best Buy in Ohio weeks before Black Friday. While this is not something I would ever do, I can understand the need to save pennies and finding any means necessary. So why not use Black Friday to save a few pennies on your wedding or on a wedding you are attending?
There are a lot of websites that offer discounts for Black Friday/Cyber Monday that are wedding related. If you are DIY-ing it, try checking out Michaels or any other local craft store. They are sure to have big sales, and you should be able to get what you need while everyone else is at a lower price.
My favorite department store Nordstrom has amazing Black Friday deals, especially in beauty. Whether you are getting ready for your upcoming wedding or just trying to get the hottest beauty trends, now is the time to strike. I’ve got my eye on a Clarisonic Mia First Sonic cleanser, and they have a doorbuster steal for $99. This nifty little cleanser with give that glow 24/7. On top of having sales in the beauty department, the whole store will be having great sales to get the accessories.
Looking to get your bridesmaids dress or any other formal attire on the skinny? The Wedding Shoppe is known for having hundreds of dresses and accessories for all occasions, so why not get it with a discount?! If you order it now, you still have time to get it altered before the summer wedding. So maybe Minnesota is too far away to visit, but their Cyber Monday sale is going to be a sale not to be missed!
For the homemade, Etsy Wedding has a corner of the market that gives individual artists that sell on the famous site the choice to participate in Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday. Last year, I was able to score some great finds for family and friends, so I imagine there will be some awesome deals from wedding vendors there. Here is a list of Martha Stewart Wedding’s favorite Etsy crafters, so make sure to check them out!
If you or anyone else you knows of good sales going on for either Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or even the holiday season, please share. A wedding is an expensive event, but there is no reason to break the bank!
Happy Shopping friends!
A few years ago when Kate Middleton became engaged to Prince William of Whales, the trend of sapphire engagement rings was off the charts after Will gave Kate his mother’s ring. It seems like that trend is still going strong with many look-a-likes on the market. While Duchess Kate’s ring is stunning, rather than having a replica, why not pay homage with one of the rings below that accent the center stone with the twinkle of sapphires.

This has been trolling the web recently, but I couldn’t help but share it. This really cool couple Terra and Drake Otto recreated the dance from the 80’s movie “Dirty Dancing” at their wedding reception. They invited Joe Pollock Films along to catch some great pieces of their rehearsal and the look on every guests face when Drake lifts Terra up in the signature move. Not gonna lie, Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey have some competition. Check it out and congrats to the newlyweds!
